  1. I saw this video and lots of thoughts came in to my mind. The tought of pursuing happiness how strong can this feeling lead you to encouter a realm were you are a master and you got the skills it took me by surprise all the life experiences that J.K rowling had to go thru and how lucky she was to still be thriven by her talent and dream and little by little her imagination take place. Its so surprising that i started to think that imagination is another form of motivation that leads to happines and achieving our goals that without imagination there would be no character in who you are and what you can show and that barriers are broken with imagination.

  2. After watching this video, I had another though on happiness at a work place or happiness in education or just happiness in general. I like the fact J.K Rowling dicuss that she was at her lowest point and that was building brick for her sucees. so she cant go down the only way was up for her.

  3. When I watched this video I didn't expect it to take such a sad turn. When she was talking about that guy I was heart broken. Its still hard for me to understand how you can still see light in a world of gray.
On the other hand, her talking about her own life, I had known that she was poor before Harry Potter. I remember reading that she had spent all her time writing bits of the story on napkins in coffee shops. She went after what she wanted, and while at first she miserably failed, she succeeded to such an extreme.
The fact that someone like J.K. Rowling was told the same thing so many of use are, & almost didn't write Harry Potter, is mind blowing. It makes me believe that maybe if I do what I love, and follow my dreams, I too can be just as happy and successful.

  4. I found the video very fascinating, how in the begining the she was very funny making jokes and talking about herself briefly. Then she changes subject and talks about how she and we are all fortune we did not grow up in countries that have rebel faction killing innocent people. i enjoy how she explain herself about how and what she went through in college because right now i am experiencing similar problems as she did. Her words were very motivating. her speech makes me think about myself more and the mistakes i have made in life. I think more about what i need to do in order to have a successful life.

  5. At the beginning of the video I just assumed it was another lame motivational video that every celebrity give to encourage the youth. Then somewhere in the middle the entire tone of the speech changed into her personal experiences that show what motivates her. Later she talks about how her imagination got her to where she is today. This video was very surprising, deep and motivation for future generations to how they can make a real difference in the world,

  6. Its amazing to me how successful J.K Rowling became coming from a poor low income household. Her talent of being such a wonderful paranormal writer helped her get through the hardships shw went through with her parents and with her friend that she made in school.

  7. In this video I learned about the benefits of failure. In J.K Rowling's speech she talks about when she was at rock bottom and that it became her foundation where she built her life. This speech made me realize that sometimes when we are at our lowest points, it bring out the best in us. That at times when we are so low, it gives us that push to do what we love. I really enjoyed watching this video and agree with J.K. Rowling's key points in the benefits of failure.

  8. I enjoyed watching the clip by J.K. Rowling! I like how she discuss her thoughts about failure. Not everyone can make it to Harvard College and be smart, but everyone has the capacity to learn and grow academy. You just have to do your best, and like what you do as far as a career. Take the time to set goals, and come up with a plan that will ensure your happiness down the road. Have and open mind and skys the limit. You never know where it will take you.

  9. First of all I would like to thank my English professor for asking me to watch this video. When I went to watch this woman who had written the Harry Potter books, the only thing I knew was I hated Harry Potter. I also knew that this woman was on welfare when she wrote it. After everything that has happened in my life, I thought that it was one big failure. She mentioned that hitting rock bottom lays a firm foundation for life. This is true. I hit rock bottom just before I got clean. Upon that bottom I am building a future that will be rock solid. Failure DOES teach us things in a way that successes can not. It makes us see what is real. She spoke of how humans have the power to empathize. To learn from others with out experiencing the things that other humans have gone through. There is a theory that "magic" is what will heal us, make us happy. We each hold with in us the "magic" needed to catapult us into change. "Magic", not only to imagine a world of true inner happiness, but to create it. My professor spoke today in class about scores. Scores do not lead to happiness. The lesson learned during the journey are much more important to our individual happiness. I close this piece with the same quote that J.K Rowling closed her commencement speak at Harvard University, "As is a tale so is life, not how long it is but how good it is is what really matters" Thank you Professor!

  10. After watching this video, I learned that its not the end of the world if you fail at something. It can be a humbling experience and it can help a person remake a plan for success. As the saying goes,"At first you don't succeed, try,try again."It reassures me to continue to persue my goals, no matter how difficult they are.

  11. This is a very inspiring video. i was astonished to know that even though J.K. Rowling was from a lower class background, she still became a successful figure in society. She mentioned two strong points on failure and imagination. From this video, I learned that we can learn from our mistakes. I also learned that failure leads to success and that imagination is another form of motivation which leads to happiness. Overall, I think this is a very powerful speech that can shape the future of the youth and help them move further and lead a successful life.

  12. J.K Rowling is indeed an inspiration, from the experiences, thoughts and advices she had given. She is a perfect example of someone, for someone to be truly motivated or inspired from. J.K Rowling talked about benefits of failure and how important our imagination can be. There is no dough that these statements, which she had made, is not true, and I know on behalf of myself and millions of people; they have strong belief about the statements.
J.K Rowling states," It is Impossible to live without failing at something". She is stating that failing at any obstacles in life which may be important or meaningful for us, may be the beginning of a successful hope. Failure gave us the strength to become stronger and the ability to fight harder. Failing gives us the thought and the determination for not going back towards those hardship or difficulties which we had experienced. It is clear that failure is not an exciting thing, but it can be the seed of a hopeful and healthier growth.
She also states, "Unlike any other creature on this planet, human being can learn and have understanding, without having the experience". She is simply saying that human beings can learn from other people mistakes of difficulties which they can picture themselves in. They can imagine themselves in these situations and take actions to improve their lives and others.
I couldn't agree more with her thoughts because these are experiences which I had faced already. These experiences are the ones that got me inspired and motivated to become someone better.

  13. I enjoyed this video. J.K Rowling is a wonderful author and speaker. I was not bored for a second. I agree that people at a certain age can not blame there parents for their wrong decisions. I respect J.K Rowling for telling the audience about her failure. In reality it happens sometimes. The most important thing is, she did not give up. She came along way. J.K Rowling is a true success story.
